What is O level/WAEC subject combination (requirement) for Sociology?
The subjects needed to study Sociology in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The O level requirement that is the compulsory WAEC subject combination for Sociology is same as Political Science subject combination

 

What is JAMB UTME subject combination (subjects needed) for Sociology?
You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just an advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. If you’re having troubles JAMB UTME maybe it’s time you pass through IJBM, JUBEB, ND or Predegree. JAMB UTME subject combination for Sociology are

What is Direct Entry Special consideration (waiver) to study Sociology?
(i) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT), No direct entry

(ii) University of Ibadan (UI) accepts 2 ‘A’ level passes from Arts, Science or Social Science.

(iii) University of Lagos (UNILAG) accepts; (a) Very good passes in three JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Any three (3) of Economics, Government, Geography, History and CRS/IRS. (b) Cambridge A/Level pass in Government (c) Candidates must satisfy O/Level requirement.

(iv) Usumanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK) accepts National Diploma in Mass Communication with credit level pass and NCE (Social Studies).

(vi) University of Benin (UNIBEN) accepts in Social Development and Administration.

(viii) Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) accepts two A’ level passes to include a Social Science subject.

(ix) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) accepts ‘A’ passes in two relevant.

(xii) Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba accepts ND upper credit in relevant fields. Requires ‘A’ level passes in Government and one Social Science subject.

(xiii) Igbinedion University Okada – As for Political Science and Public Administration.

(xiv) Bowen University, Iwo accepts two ‘A’ level passes to include Economics and any one of Government, Geography and History

(xvi) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) requires two of Economics, Government/Pol. Science, Religious Studies, Geography and Social Studies.

(xvii) University of Jos (UNIJOS) accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes in any of the Social Sciences subjects for IJMB (candidates must have met ‘O’ level entry requirements).

(xviii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria accepts two ‘A’ level/IJMB which must include Sociology or Government/ History and any other subject.

(xx) Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma accepts two ‘A’ level passes from Mathematics, Economics, Government and Geography.

(xxii) Western Delta University, Oghara Delta State – Same as in Political Science and Public Administration.

(xxiii) Kwara State University, Ilorin (KWASU) accepts IJMB and two A’ levels papers in relevant subjects.

(xxiv) Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu-Nike – Enugu State accepts BSc, BA or HND in any discipline.

(xxv) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) accepts: (a) (IJMB) certificate with a minimum of nine (9) points. The IJMB papers should include Sociology and two other Social Sciences Subjects. (b) Two-year National Diploma in the relevant subject area, with a minimum of lower credit. (c) National Certificate in Education (NCE) with a minimum of ‘C’ grade in Social Studies and nine (9) points in overall grading.

(xxvi) University of Abuja, Gwagwalada – As in Political Science.

(xxvii) Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti – Ekiti State requires A’ level passes or equivalents and any other two subjects to include Government/History and Economics.

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special consideration (waiver) to study Sociology?
(i) University of Abuja, Gwagwalada – As in Political Science.

(ii) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) requires credit passes in Mathematics, English Language and three other subjects from Economics, Government, Commerce, Geography, CRS, IRS, Accounts, Yoruba or a Science subject.

(iii) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) requires at least 2 Social Science subjects and a pass in Mathematics.

(iv) Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) require credits in Mathematics

(v) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accepts Five ‘O’ level credit passes from Arts, Science or Social Science Subjects

(vi) Abia State University, Uturu and University of Calabar (UNICAL) accept a pass in Mathematics.

(vii) University of Ibadan (UI) accepts 5 ‘O’ level credits passes from Arts, Science or Social /Science.

(viii) Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State (FULAFIA) requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Government and any two of Economics, Commerce, History, IRS or CRK.

(ix) Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) and Bowen University, Iwo require five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, and any two social science subjects plus any other subject.

(x) University of Lagos (UNILAG) requires English Language, Mathematics, and any two of Economics, Government/History, Civic Education and Geography and any one of Literature-in-English, CRK/IRK and any Nigerian Language.

(xi) Redeemer’s University, Mowe requires five ‘O level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and three additional subjects in Social; Sciences or Arts

(xii) Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba requires credit in English Language, Mathematics, Government/History, and any two Social or Arts subjects.

(xiii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Government or History, Economics, Geography, CRK/IRK and at last a pass in Mathematics.

(xiv) Kaduna State University, Kaduna (KASU) requires a credit in Mathematics.

(xv) Abia State University, Uturu same as in Political Science.

(xvi) Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu-Nike – Enugu State same as in Political Science and International Relations.

(xvii) Paul University, Awka – Anambra State requires five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings including English Language, Mathematics and three Arts/Social Science subjects.

(xviii) Benue State University, Makurdi requires five SSCE credit passes from any Social Science or Arts subjects

(xix) Western Delta University, Oghara Delta State same as in Political Science and Public Administration

(xx) Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji requires at least a pass in Mathematics

(xxi) Niger Delta University Yenagoa (NDU) requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Government or History and three other subjects in not more than two.

(xxii) Kwara State University, Ilorin (KWASU) requires credit passes in English, Mathematics, Government and any two other social sciences.

(xxiii) Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti – Ekiti State requires credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Government and any other two Social Science subjects.

(xxiv) Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu-Nike – Enugu State requires five SSCE credit passes to include English, Mathematics, History or Government or Economics and two Science, Art or Social Science subjects.

(xxv) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) requires five O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any two Social Science subjects and any other One Arts subjects in not more than two sittings.

(xxvi) Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State requires credit pass in Mathematics and one Science subject.

(xxvii) Kogi State University Anyigba requires credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Economics/Geography/Government and any two other relevant subjects.

(xxviii) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) requires English Language and any three others from Social Science [including Mathematics]/Arts subject.  (i) University of Ibadan (UI) – The 3 subjects to be chosen from Arts, Science or Social Science subjects. What is JAMB UTME Special consideration (waiver) to study Sociology?
(i) University of Ibadan (UI) – The 3 subjects to be chosen from Arts, Science or Social Science subjects.

(ii) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) and Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma accept Mathematics as UTME subjects.

(iii) Kogi State University Anyigba accepts English language. Mathematics and three others from Government or History, Economics, Geography, Commerce and Agric. Sci.

(iv) Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti – Ekiti State require Government/History plus two other subjects

(v) Benue State University, Makurdi accepts any three subjects from Arts or S/Sciences

(vi) Western Delta University, Oghara Delta State requires three Social Science or Arts subject.

(viii) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) requires Government/History, Economics/Commerce and any other Social Science subject.
