What is O level/WAEC subject combination (requirement) for Banking and Finance?
The subjects needed to study Banking and Finance in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The O level requirement that is the compulsory WAEC subject combination for Banking and Finance must include

  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Economics
  4. A trade subject

 

What is JAMB UTME subject combination (subjects needed) for Banking and Finance?
You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just an advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. If you’re having troubles JAMB UTME maybe it’s time you pass through IJBM, JUBEB, ND or Predegree. JAMB UTME subject combination (subject to write in jamb) for Banking and Finance are

  1. Mathematics
  2. One Social Science subject
  3. Any other subject

 

What is Direct Entry requirement (that is the required A-level result you need) to study Banking and Finance?
(i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Accounting or Economics and one other subject.
(ii) NCE with passes at merit level in relevant subjects.
(iii) ND at credit level.
(iv) Foundation International exam such as ICAN, ACCA, ICMA, GPFA

What is Direct Entry Special consideration (waiver) for Banking and Finance?
(i) Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu-Nike – Enugu State, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ajayi Crowther University, Ibadan (ACU) and Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja – As in Accounting.

(ii) Crescent University (CUAB) accepts (i) Two ‘A’ Level passes to include Mathematics and either Economics or Account. (ii) IJMB at acceptable grades. (ii) NCE, ND, HND and approved equivalent with at least lower credit may be admitted to the appropriate level.

(iii) Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike and Ajayi Crowther University, Ibadan (ACU) – Same as in Accounting.

(iv) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) requires two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Accounting, Economics, Business Management, Mathematics and Statistics. Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) accept ‘A’ Level pass in Government. ND/HND not admissible for Direct Entry.

(v) Benson Idahosa University, Benin City same as in Accounting

(vi) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye accepts: (a ) Part I Chartered Institute of Bankers

(vi) Osun State University Osogbo (UNIOSUN) accepts A’ Level passes in Economics and any one of Geography, Government and Accounting. ND (lower .credit) in relevant fields. Candidates with ICAN, ACCA (London), CIMA (UK), CIBN, CITN and other members of IFAC may be considered.

(vii) University of Calabar (UNICAL) accepts ND in Banking and Finance.

(viii) University of Benin (UNIBEN) – in addition to UTME requirement, requires two ‘A’ level passes including Economics; ND (Upper credit) in Accounting, Business Studies or Financial Studies; HND (Lower Credit) in Accounting, Financial Studies, Business Studies or Banking and Finance; NCE (overall merit) with credit pass in Economics or Business Studies; Associate Institute of Bankers (Part 1). It also accepts HND Lower credit or Merit in relevant Discipline.

(ix) Bells University of Technology, Otta and Western Delta University, Oghara Delta State same as in Accounting

(x) Caleb University, Lagos accepts ND at Credit level in Accounting, Banking, Financial Studies, or ATS, ICAN may be considered for admission by direct entry provided they have the UME subjects at one sittings.

(xi)Bayero University, Kano (BUK) does not accept Chemistry, Physics, and Agricultural Science & History.

(xii) University of Jos (UNIJOS) accepts National Diploma (Lower Credit) in Business Administration, Accounting, Purchasing & Supply, Marketing and other related disciplines.

(xiii) Niger Delta University Yenagoa (NDU) requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Economics, and any two other subjects in not more than two sittings.

(xiv) Southwestern University, Oku Owa accepts: (a) NCE with passes at merit level in relevant subjects. (b) SND in Management, Marketing, Accounting and Banking/Finance with a minimum of ‘B’ overall average. (c) Two ‘A’ level passes in Accounting or Economics and any one other subject. (d) IJMB/NCE/ND/Banking Certificate/ CIBN course or approved equivalent.

(xv) University of Abuja, Gwagwalada accepts :Two A-level credit passes in Economics and any of Social Science, and Management or ND with Upper Credit in relevant discipline in addition to the ‘O’ level requirements.

(xvi) Kings University, Ode Omu (UNIKINGS) – Same as in Accounting. (xvii) Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu – Osun State a
ccepts NCE (merit), ND (credit) or Foundation International examinations such as ICAN, ACCA, ICMA, GPFA.

(xviii) Christopher University Mowe requires two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Government, Statistics and Geography. Accepts HND, ND or NCE with credit passes in relevant subjects
What is WAEC, NECO, GCE, Special consideration (waiver) for Banking and Finance?
(i) Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike and CONVENANT – Same as in Accounting

(ii) Osun State University Osogbo (UNIOSUN) requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in the SSCE (or its equivalent), credit in English, Mathematics and Economics are compulsory with credits in at least two other subjects from Geography, Government, Accounts and Book-Keeping at one sittings.

(iii) Bells University of Technology, Otta, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki and Redeemer’s University, Mowe same as in Accountancy.

(iv) Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu-Nike – Enugu State and Western Delta University, Oghara Delta State same as in Accounting

(v) Niger Delta University Yenagoa (NDU) (Banking, Finance and Insurance) requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Economics, and any two of the following; Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography and Statistics

(vi) Niger Delta University Yenagoa (NDU) (For Office Management Technology) requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Economics, and three other subjects.

(vii) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) requires two other subjects from Principles of Accounts, Commerce and office Practice.

(viii) Rhema University, Obeama-Asa – Rivers State accepts National Diploma in Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Studies, Agricultural Economics or NCE in Economics/Business Studies with UTME requirements.

(ix) Crescent University (CUAB) requires five (5) O ’level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two of the following: Commerce, Geography and Statistics.

(x) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) requires two credit passes from any of Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Government or Geography.

(xi) Southwestern University, Oku Owa for Business Administration requires two of Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography, and Statistics as other relevant subjects.

(xii) Kings University, Ode Omu (UNIKINGS) – Same as in Accounting

(xiii) Christopher University Mowe requires five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, one Science subject and any one of Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography or Statistics.

What is JAMB UTME Special consideration (waiver) for Banking and Finance?
(i) Crescent University (CUAB), Kwara State University, Ilorin (KWASU) and University of Benin (UNIBEN) require Economics, Mathematics and any other subject.

(ii) Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike, Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja, Bells University of Technology, Otta and Ajayi Crowther University, Ibadan (ACU) – Same as in Accounting.

(iii) Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo accepts Commerce in lieu of Mathematics

(iv) Salem University, Lokoja and Western Delta University, Oghara Delta State require Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject.

(v) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) requires Economics and one of Government or Geography.

(vi) Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin accepts Commerce in lieu of Mathematics or Economics.

(vii) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) requires Mathematics, Economics and one of Principles of Account, Commerce, Government.

(viii) University of Abuja, Gwagwalada requires Economics/Commerce, English, Mathematics and any other Social Science/ Commercial Subject.

(ix) Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos accept Principles of Accounting in lieu of Mathematics.

(x) Kogi State University Anyigba and Kings University, Ode Omu (UNIKINGS) – Same as in Accounting
