(i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology.

The general WAEC, NECO or GCE core subject combinations for Chemistry have been listed above. Yet, some Universities may accept Pass in lieu of Credit. And some may accept or reject the combinations of WAEC, NECO, or GCE results. You will know more when you take a look at the Special Consideration.

Special Consideration for Chemistry

What is Direct Entry Special Consideration (waiver) for Chemistry?

(i) RHEMA, OAU, UNILORIN, UNN, OOU, UNIBEN, EKSU and BOWEN do not accept Biology.

(ii) AAU accepts ‘A’ level Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics or Biology.

(iii) AUE and UNILORIN require ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Chemistry. AUE accepts ND (Upper credit) in Science technology (Chemistry option) from recognised polytechnics.

(iv) University of Ibadan (UI), UNN, UNILAG and OAU do not accept ND/NCE

(v) MAUTY does not accept NCE

(vi) FUTMINNA accepts lower credit or merit at ND, HND or NCE plus O’ level requirement stated below.

(vii) UNIBEN in addition to UTME requirements, accepts (a) ND (Upper credit), HND (lower credit) in Polymer Chemistry or Science Laboratory Technology in relevant subjects. (b) NCE (Overall merit) with credit passes in Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.

(ix) UDU, BUK (BAYERO), UNIMAID and LASU accept NCE with Chemistry major.

(x) UNILORIN accepts NCE Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

(xi) FUNAAB same as in Biochemistry.

(xii) UNIJOS accepts Chemistry and Physics.

(xiii) MAUTY accepts a pass in Biology.

(x) UNIPORT (PHC), ABSU and IMSU – No Direct Entry

(xi) FUTMINNA accepts NCE (credit), ND/HND lower credit in addition to O/L credit passes in Mathematics, Chemistry and two other science subjects.

(xii) UNIUYO accepts ND (upper credit) and HND (lower credit) in relevant field plus UTME requirements.

(xiii) BUK (BAYERO) accepts ND (upper credit) and NCE relevant subjects with B grades.

(xiv) DELSU and UMUDIKE require A’ Level passes in Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics.

(xv) EKSU accepts ND at Upper credit level

(xvii) BSU accepts NCE (merit), ND (Upper credit) in relevant fields plus five O’ level credit at a sitting.

(xviii) IGBINEDION accepts A’ level in Chemistry plus Physics or Biology, ND in Science Tech. with relevant O’ level requirements.

(xix) AAUA requires ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and also accepts ND Upper Credit in Chemistry or other related Discipline.

(xx) KUST accepts IJMB, NCE, HND (credit), ND (Upper credit) in Chemistry, Biology, Physics or any relevant subject.

(xxi) AAU accepts NCE with at least merit pass in Chemistry and any other science subject

(xxii) ACU (AJAYI) requires A’ level passes in Biology and Chemistry or NCE in Chemistry and Physics plus UTME requirements.

(xxiii) CUAB accepts IJAMB at acceptable grade levels

(xxiv) FUTO requires at least two ‘A’ Level passes not below Grade C in Chemistry and one of Physics and Mathematics. It accepts ND/HND (Upper Credit) in relevant fields. Candidates must, in addition, meet the UTME ‘O’ Level requirements. It does not accept First Degree and NCE.

(xxv) UMYUK accepts Candidates with ND/HND in Chemistry as major or its equivalent with a minimum of lower credit from a recognized institution. NCE Candidates must have Chemistry as major with any of Physics, Biology, Mathematics or other relevant subject or certificate from a recognized university with a minimum of 9 points.

(xxvi) NCE Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics plus ‘O’ level credit in Mathematics

(xxvii) AL-HIKMAH accepts two A’ level passes in Chemistry and any other relevant subject and accepts National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology.

(xxviii) BOWEN same as in Biochemistry

(xxix) WESLEYUNI accepts: (a) Two “A” level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology in that order. (b) Upper Credit passes in ND in addition to 5 Credits at WASC/GCE O’L / SSCE (or its equivalent

(xxx) LAUTECH accepts: (a) Two ‘A’ Level Passes in Chemistry Mathematics, Physics or Biology (b) ND with Upper Credit/ HND in related discipline (plus UTME requirements) may be considered for admission into 200 level.

(xxxi) AUN accepts (a) ‘A’ level passes chosen from English Language, Mathematics, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature in English, Government, History, Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics and French. (b) (1) AUN does not accept credit passes in the following; Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, Home Craft, Home management, Physical Education, Physical and Health Education, Music, Commerce, Accounting, Financial Accounting, Bookkeeping, Islamic History, Religious Studies, Tajweed, Library Studies, Diction, Kiswahili, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Arabic, Turkish, Study skills. (2) AUN accepts ICGSE and ‘A’ level Cambridge and does not offer admissions direct to 200 level programs. May transfer credits relevant to it’s major at the discretion of the Dean of school.

(xxxii) MAKURDI accepts (a) Holders of UTME requirements plus HSC/GCE `A’ level passes in Chemistry and one other relevant Science subject may be admitted at 200 level of study. (b) HND holders with Upper credit in relevant disciplines who posses UTME requirements may also be admitted to the 200 Level of study. (c) ND holders with Upper Credit in relevant disciplines who possess UTME requirements may be admitted to 100 Level. (d) NCE holders with at least 2 credit level passes in relevant subjects, which must include Chemistry, and who possesses UTME requirements may be admitted to 200 level.

(xxxiii) WESTERN-DEL accepts (a) At least two passes at the GCE ‘A’ Level in Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics. (b) ND/HND with at least lower credit pass in relevant Science Laboratory Technology (SLT), or Polymer Chemistry in the relevant subject area from a recognized Polytechnic. (c) NCE with at least a credit pass in Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics from a recognized College of Education. In addition, candidate should have an overall merit pass.

(xxxiv) UNN does not accept A’ level Biology.

(xxxi) TSUJ: (a) Requires three A’ level passes which must include Chemistry combination. (b) Accepts NCE (merit) and ND/HND (credit) in related fields in addition to UTME requirement.

(xxxii) GOUU requires two “A” level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology. ND/NCE with good grade in relevant “O” level subjects.

(xxxiii) KWASU – Same as in Mathematics.

(xxxiv) CRUTECH accepts a) For Chemistry ND (Upper credit) in Science Laboratory Technology, HND (Lower Credit) in Food Technology, NCE (merit) in Chemistry and any other Science subject, IJMB (B grade) in Chemistry and any other Science subject. b) For Biochemistry ND (Upper credit) in Science Laboratory Technology, HND (Lower Credit) in Food Technology, NCE (merit) in Chemistry and Biology, IJMB (B grade) in Chemistry and Biology.

(xxxv) MCPHERSON accepts HND (at least lower credit), ND (at least upper credit) in Chemistry, Physics, Biology and any other relevant subject. O’ level credit in any two of the Biology, Physics and Mathematics in addition to A’ level passes in Chemistry and Physics or Biology.

(xxxvi) CALEB – Same as Microbiology and Industrial Biotechnology.

(xxxvii) NDU accepts: a. National Diploma (ND) Upper Credit in Chemistry or any of the Sciences or Applied Sciences, e.g. Engineering, etc or National Certificate of Education (NCE) merit upper credit. b. Higher National Diploma (HND) in Chemistry and in addition must have five SSCE/GCE or NECO ‘O’ Level credits obtained in not more than two sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(xxxviii) NTNU – Same as in Computer Science.

(xxxix) EBSU accepts HND, NCE and ND with a minimum of Merit and Upper credit respectively in the relevant fields. It accepts only A’ level Chemistry and Mathematics.

(xli) SOUTHWESTERN accepts: (a) Accepts ‘A’ level Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics or Biology (b) Merit in ND (Upper credit), HND (lower credit) in Polymer Chemistry or Science Laboratory Technology in relevant subjects.

(xlii) UNILAG accepts; (a) Very good passes in the following three JUPEB/ALEVEL subjects: Chemistry, Physics and any one of Mathematics and Biology. (b) Candidates must satisfy O/Level requirement

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special Consideration (waiver) to study Chemistry?

(i) IMSU accepts a pass in English Language under exceptional circumstances.

(ii) ABU accept P.7 in English Language for candidates who show special ability in Mathematics and Physics

(iii) UNICAL requires credit pass in Physics /Mathematics. UNICAL accept P. 7 in English and one of Mathematics or Biology.

(iv) BSU requires a credit pass in Mathematics.

(vi) UNILORIN requires Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics or Biology for UNILORIN.

(vii) OAU and AAU accept any other subject in lieu of Biology.

(viii) University of Ibadan (UI) requires 5 or 6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.

(x) GOUU and KUST require five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and any other Science subject.

(xi) AUE and UNIBEN accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

(xii) ACU (AJAYI) accepts Geography in lieu of Physics.

(xiii) UNIUYO requires a credit pass in English Language

 

(xiv) UMYUK requires at least five O/Level credits at not more than two sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry

(xv) LAUTECH same as in Pure and Applied Physics.

(xvi) CUAB and FUNAAB – Same as in Biochemistry.

(xvii) UNIPORT (PHC) requires Mathematics and does not accept Biology.

(xviii) AUN requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, and any other three subjects from the following; Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Biology, Further Mathematics, Literature in English, Government, History, Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics, and French.

(xix) AUN does not accept credit passes in the following; Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, Home Craft, Home management, Physical Education, Physical and Health Education, Music, Commerce, Accounting, Financial Accounting, Book keeping, Islamic History, Religious Studies, Tajweed, Library Studies, Diction, Kiswahili, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Arabic, Turkish, Study skills.

(xx) NTNU accepts English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and any other two Science subjects.

(xxi) GOUU same as in Biological Sciences.

(xxii) UMUDIKE same as in Mathematics.

(xxiii) KSU and REDEEMER’S require Five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Chemistry Mathematics, Physics and Biology/Agricultural Science. KSU requires that Credit in Agricultural Science MUST be backup with a pass in Biology.

(xxiv) MAKURDI accepts credit passes in either Geography or Statistics in lieu of Biology.

(xxv) WESTERN-DEL requires five SSCE credit passes which must include Chemistry, English Language, Physics, Mathematics and either Biology or Agriculture.

(xxvi) NDU requires the five ‘O’ level credit passes in not more than two sittings.

(xxvii) KSU and UNN Accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

(xxxviii) KWASU – Same as in Mathematics.

(xxxix) NDA – Same as in Biological Sciences.

(xl) FUTMINNA requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and any other two subjects from Physics, Biology, Further Mathematics, geography and Technical Drawing.

(xli) FED-DUTSE accepts ND, HND, NCE, IJMB in addition to 5 O/level Credit passes in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics/Physics.

(xlii) ODUDUWA accepts credit pass in Agricultural Science or Health Science in place of Biology.

(xliii) SOSU accepts credit pass in Agricultural Science but with a pass in Biology

What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration (waiver) to study Chemistry?

(i) AAUA accepts Agricultural Science.

(ii) UNIKINGS, FUTMINNA, UMUDIKE and RSUST require Chemistry, Mathematics and either Physics or Biology.

(iii) FUNAAB, JAYI, IGBINEDION and University of Ibadan (UI) require chemistry, Physics and Biology or Mathematics.

(iv) FUTO, FED-LAFIA, AUE, UNIPORT (PHC), ABU and DELSU require Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics only.

(v) AUN requires Mathematics, plus any other subjects from the following; Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Biology, Further Mathematics, Literature in English, Government, History, Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics, and French.

(vi) NTNU – Same as in Computer Science.

(vii) WESTERN-DEL requires Chemistry and two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics.

(viii) UNIBEN requires chemistry, Physics, Biology or Mathematics

(ix) TSUJ requires Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

(x) EVANGEL requires Chemistry, Mathematics and any of Physics, Geography or Biology.

(xi) UNILAG requires Chemistry, Physics and any of Biology or Mathematics.

(xiii) FED-LOKOJA requires Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Mathematics.

(xiv) CUAB requires chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

(xv) OOU requires Chemistry and any two of Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Agricultural Science and Geography.

(xvi) FUPRE requires Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

(xvii) ODUDUWA accepts Agricultural Science in place of Biology
