What is WAEC, NECO or GCE subject combinations (requirement) to study Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts?  
You must have Five credit at one or two sitting in WAEC, NECO, or GCE to study Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts. The core WAEC, NECO or GCE subject combinations for Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts must include:

  1. English Language
  2. Fine Art.
  3. A trade subject

For holders of NTC, the relevant subjects could be General Wood work, Building/Engineering Drawing, Introduction to Building Construction; Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Linig, Sign and Design; Wall hanging, Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing; Printing Origination; Machine Printing and Finishing

Special Consideration for Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts

What is Direct Entry Special Consideration (Waiver) to study Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts ?

(i) UNIMAID accepts NCE with Fine/Creative Art (Major)

(iii) UNIBEN requires at least ‘A’ level passes in GCE or HSC in Fine Arts and any other subject, the subject must include Literature in English. It accepts ND Upper Credit level pass or HND lower Credit level pass in Fine Arts subject from recognised institution.

(iv) UNIUYO accepts ND (Upper credit), HND (lower credit) and NCE with merit pass in relevant field plus UTME requirements.

(v) UNN requires: (a) Three GCE A’ level passes in Fine Arts or Technical Drawing plus UTME requirements. (b) HND holders with an average of B grade with UTME requirement into 300 level (c) ND/NCE at merit level with UTME requirements. (d) Candidates would be interviewed.

(vi) UNILAG requires very good passes in three JUPEB/ALEVEL subjects: (a) Theatre Arts: Lit-in English and any two of Igbo, Yoruba, CRS/IRS, French, History, Government, Music and Visual Arts. (b) Visual Arts: Visual Arts and any two (2) of Lit-in English, Igbo, Yoruba CRS/IRS, French, History, Government, and Music. (c) Music: Music and any two (2) from Literature in English, Igbo/Yoruba, CRS/IRS, French, History, Government, Economics, Chemistry, Biology, Further Mathematics and Visual Arts. Also accepts HND/OND at Upper Credit level in Drama/Theatre and Music; NCE Music and Diploma or Advanced level in Music from the Royal School of Music, London/ Trinity College, London/ Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) and Mountain Top Music School, Lagos. (d) Also accepts HND/OND at Upper Credit Level in Drama/Theatre and Music; NCE Music and Diploma or Advanced level in Music from the Royal School of Music, London, Trinity College, London and Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON)

(vii) NDU requires a pass in English Literature at the Advanced level GCE, or at the Principal level in the HSC exams or merit at the NCE, and in at least one other Arts subject, Fine and Industrial Arts or Theatre Arts.

What is Waec, Neco, Gce Special Consideration (Waiver) to study Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts ?

(i) UNIBEN accepts five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language and one Arts subject. It also accepts candidates without Fine Arts at ‘O’ levels.

(ii) ABSU accepts a pass in English Language provided Fine Art is not below A3

(iii) NDU requires five SSCE credit passes in English Language and any four of the following; Literature in English, Fine Arts, History, Geography, Economics and Religious Studies.

(iv) UNILAG accepts: a) Theatre Arts: Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Literature-in-English, Mathematics and any other two subjects one of which must be an Arts subject. b) Music: Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Music/Literature-in-English and any other two subjects from Arts, Science and Social Sciences. c) Visual Arts Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any one of Fine Arts/Visual Arts/Photography/Craft Practice/Dyeing & Bleaching and any other two subjects, one of which must be an Arts subject.

(vi) UNIPORT (PHC) requires three subjects from Literature in English, CRK/IRK, Economics, Maths/Biology/Agric. Sc., a Nigerian Language, History/Government and geography.

(vii) ABSU requires credit in Mathematics and any three subjects from Arts Social Science and Sciences

(vi) UNN requires five credits pass to include English Language Fine and Applied Arts and one Science subject. Candidates who possess NABTEB/NTC must have 5 credit passes which must include English language, Technical drawing, Painting and decorating and a science subject.

(vii) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language and any four other subjects in not more than two sittings.

(viii) FED-LAFIA requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any other relevant subjects.

(ix) UNIJOS requires five O’ level credit passes at not more than two sittings. Three of which must include English Language, Fine Arts/Technical Drawing and any Art related subject

What is UTME Jamb Special Consideration (Waiver) to study Fine Art / Fine and Applied Arts ?

(i) UNILAG accepts any one of Fine Arts/Literature-inEnglish/Music, one Arts subject and any Science or Social Science.

(iii) NDU accepts any three subjects.

(iv) UNIBEN accepts two Arts subjects and any other subject.

(v) UNIPORT (PHC) accepts any three subjects.
