What is WAEC, NECO or GCE subject combinations (requirement) to study Classical Studies?  
You must have Five credit at one sitting or Six credit at two sitting in WAEC, NECO, or GCE to study Classical Studies. The core WAEC, NECO or GCE subject combinations for Classical Studies must include:

  1. English Language
  2. Literature in English or History
  3. One Arts or Social Science subjects
  4. Any other subjects
  5. A trade subject

According 2017/2018 JAMB Brochure, only University of Ibadan offers Classical Studies


What is JAMB UTME subject combination (subject needed) to study Classical Studies?
You should aim for a score of 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side. (Just an advice). JAMB UTME subject combinations (requirement) for Classical Studies are

  1. English Language
  2. Literature in English or History
  3. Any other two subjects.


What is Direct Entry requirement to study Classical Studies?
(i)Two ‘A’ level passes including Lit-InEnglish or History.
(ii) NCE in relevant subjects

Classical Studies is the scientific study of historic or prehistoric peoples and their cultures by analysis of their artifacts, inscriptions, monuments, and other such remains, especially those that have been excavated. Where can I work with a Degree in Classical Studies? 
Having a Degree in Classical Studies does not limit you to a particular work environment. Archaeologists may work in many different roles and specialisations these includes Museums, Professional and commercial developers, forensic investigation of modern crimes or climate change research, surveyor, excavator operation e.t.c


The general WAEC, NECO or GCE core subject combination for Classical Studies have been listed above but, some Universities may accept Pass in lieu of Credit. And some may accept or reject the combinations of WAEC, NECO, or GCE results. You will know more when you take a look at the Special Consideration.
